God has called us to be Kingdom people who love Him more than anything else and who learn to walk with Him as a friend. This happens as we abide in Him throughout the day and spend quiet, alone time with Him. Here’s a simple way to spend a few minutes of your day to be with God and P.R.A.Y.!

Pause

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God!”

Sit quietly for a minute, stilling your soul. Practice taking deep breaths, full breath in and full breath out. Try to become aware of God’s presence right there with you, focusing on the love and grace He’s already given you and not trying to earn something.

Try this! A simple prayer you can pray: “Thank you, Jesus, that you’re right here with me. I give you everything and everyone.”

Rejoice

Matthew 6:9 “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name.”

When Jesus taught us how to pray, he pressed the importance of acknowledging that there is no one like our God – He is HOLY! It’s in the place of worship and adoration of God that we can realign ourselves with His bigness and His love, getting the right perspective both for our prayer time and our day.

Try this! Praying through a Psalm, turning on a worship song, praying in tongues

Ask

John 14:14 “Ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

Prayer in its simplest form is “asking.” We ask God for things both for ourselves (petition) and for others (intercession). Because we took time to Pause and Rejoice, we can be confident that our prayers will better align with what He wants for us and the people around us.

Try this! Keep a prayer list written down with updated needs for yourself and those around you.

Yield

Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

We yield to God through obeying what he says by His spirit and through His Word. The Bible isn’t just words on a page, it is living and active! So, we don’t just read to read – we read to hear. As you read, allow the Holy Spirit to encourage your heart, reveal any areas of sin and to remind you of what’s true about God and your new life in Him.

Try this! Choose a Bible reading plan on YouVersion and read slowly through each verse journaling about anything that jumps out at you!
