How the guide works

The following sections can be used to structure your time each time your group gathers:

  • Connect (⅓ of your time): Begin with a time of connecting as a group. This time is to be both relational and purposeful so we can begin building authentic, heart-level friendships. The group will ask each other questions centered around the values of Belonging to God, Identity as disciples, and walking in our God-given Purpose. Each meeting, go around and answer a couple of questions from 1-2 sections of the B.I.P. question set. If the members of the group are less familiar with each other, it may be helpful during the first couple meetings to focus on questions that highlight a person’s past seasons so the group can grow more quickly in familiarity and friendship.
  • Content (⅓ of your time): This portion of your time together will primarily consist of reading and discussing passages of Scripture or another scriptural resource together. Additionally, choosing one prayer tool to “Practice Experiencing Jesus” is a great way to grow personally and learn a tool that you can practice with others. As your group continues meeting, pay attention to where the Holy Spirit may be leading the group to focus on a particular theme or revelation when it comes to the content you cover.
    • Note: If you’re a new believer, we recommend beginning with DBS passages listed here: https://antiochnola.com/dbs-scriptures-commands-of-jesus/. Also, it may be helpful to purchase a Bible that includes a commentary or use online tools such as the Bible Project and Blue Letter Bible to unlock the meaning of the text and how it is connected to the bigger story of God’s Kingdom coming through Jesus.
  • Commit (⅓ of your time): Based on God’s written and spoken Word that was received, take time for each person to commit to one practical way to obey God’s word this week. Also discuss who else you could encourage with God’s truth as the Holy Spirit highlights this week. Settle any details for the next meet-up and pray for the needs of each group member.
