Tonight, we are wrapping up the Dream Clock by talking about where we are and how we can keep moving forward together! For our Practice, we’ll be using John 17 to Talk to Jesus.

CONNECT | FELLOWSHIP + VISION + WORSHIP

We begin House Church by taking communion and sharing a meal together. This is to be a time of intentionality where we hear about how each other is doing and check in on how it’s going obeying Jesus! For a list of Scriptures to use for Communion, click here. After dinner, circle up as one group.

Have everyone open to Acts 2:42-47. Ask someone to read the blurb below and pray afterwards.

We meet as a House Church because this is a main way a Kingdom community becomes more like Jesus and brings Heaven to earth.  We read Acts 2:42-47 to remind ourselves what is possible as we do this week-after-week. (Read the passage and then pray for God to do this in our midst!)

“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.  And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

Acts 2:42-47

CONTENT | SCRIPTURE + PRACTICE

Read the intro below outloud:

We have spent the last 8 weeks working through the Dream Clock together. The goal of the Dream Clock is to create greater understanding of one another across racial and class lines. This is pivotal for the Body of Christ since we are called to be one and Jesus and the Father are one! Our own spiritual formation and our effectiveness on mission is tied to how well we understand, love and depend on one another. We need one another and the world needs the Church! As we end the series, we are going to take some time to talk about where we each see ourselves on the Dream Clock and how we can keep moving forward into all God has for us individually and corporately.

Have one person read the Scripture to prepare our hearts:

Scripture: John 17:20-23

Discuss the following questions. If your group is large, consider getting into two groups.

  1. Where do you locate yourself on the Dream Clock? Take a minute to read the description of the different hours below.
  2. What is something God spoke to you during the Dream Clock?
  3. What is a practical step you want to take individually or we could take together to keep moving forward?
  • 1 O’Clock: I have identified the ethnic group and wealth class with which I am most familiar. I have identified the ethnic group and wealth class with which I am least familiar.
  • 2 O’Clock: I interact warmly and deeply with “thems” in my neighborhood, work place and other places I regularly go.
  • 3 O’Clock: I regularly go out of my way to be in spaces where I can engage with people from other cultures.
  • 4 O’Clock: I regularly share a meal with people from an ethnic group I am less familiar.
  • 5 O’Clock: I have a friendship who someone who serves as a guide to help me serve and learn more about another ethnic community or socio-economic group.
  • 6 O’Clock: I have been invited into another community where I can see the strengths, recognize the challenge and discern how to contribute in a meaningful way.
  • 7 O’Clock: I connect those outside my community to those within my community.
  • 8 O’Clock: I partner with a community leader to be more effective and more engaged in serving the community.
  • 9 O’Clock: My community partner and I have identified the values we both share and how we’ll display that to others.
  • 10 O’Clock: My community partner and I are discovering and reaching greater solutions together than we could apart.
  • 11 O’Clock: I have opportunities to promote the stories of others that demonstrate the values present in their community and the steps that are being taken towards a greater tomorrow.
  • 12 O’Clock: I regularly share my story of my journey towards understanding myself and others, engaging with different cultures, creating partnerships that bring greater solutions and becoming a bridge builder.

Practice: Talk to Jesus

Read the following paragraph aloud:

We will end by praying together for a few minutes. We are going to open our Bibles back to John 17:20-23. I will read it out-loud slowly and then we can take turns thanking God for anything and everything then declaring who we see Him to be in this Scripture. We’ll end by asking Him for what we see in this Scripture on behalf of ourselves, our House Church and our church as a whole.

Read John 17:20-23 | Pray prayers of thanking + declaring + asking using this Scripture
