Listen to Jesus for Others

Take turns reading the following Introduction aloud:

Tonight, we are going to spend our time ministering to one another. This is one of the most important ways we can be the Church to one another when we gather. There is a long list of “one another” Scriptures throughout the New Testament and House Church is a perfect setting to live some of this out together:

  • Bearing each other’s burdens as it says in Galatians 6.
  • Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to one another as it says in Ephesians 5.
  • Encouraging one another (1 Thessalonians 5)
  • Comforting one another (1 Thessalonians 4)
  • Confessing our sins to one another (James 5:16)

We are going to take some time to go around and briefly share anything going on in our lives so we better know how to pray and encourage one another.

After that, we are going to take some time to become aware of God’s Presence through worship. From there, simply go pray for someone or ask someone to pray for you. This is a time to confess sin to one another also and receive healing and prayer.

Before praying for someone, take a moment to Listen to Jesus first and ask for a specific scripture or an encouragement to pray. Someone may also have a prophetic encouragement for the whole group. Even if you don’t hear something specific, you can always pray a prayer of hope and strengthening.

As we share our needs with one another, big or small, and learn to confess our sins to one another, big or small, we will experience greater power, unity and restoration as a community.

HC Pastor: Facilitate a time of sharing before moving into worship.

HC Pastor Notes:

Your job will be helping the group move through the different parts of the night–beginning a time of worship after reading the Introduction, encouraging people to take time to Listen to Jesus for each other, filtering any prophetic words to share with the group, bringing the prayer time to a close and ending the night.
